Delhi Metro Railway Coroporation chief E Sreedharan was hospitalised on Wednesday after he complained of uneasiness before he was to board a flight to Kolkata. 77-year-old Sreedharan was rushed to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi at around 1100 hrs, sources said.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting of chief secretaries of all states and the cabinet secretary and the principal secretary to the prime minister. The districts where lockdown was announced include 10 districts each in Maharashtra and Kerala, six districts each in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, five each in Karnataka and Haryana, three each in Tamil Nadu and Punjab.
A metallic structure supporting main concrete pillars at Mumbai's under-construction Metro line, in the north-western suburb of Sakinaka, collapsed on Monday night. The incident took place at around 5:45 am at Ashok Park work site in Punjabi Bagh, when the labourer was hit by the beam which was being lifted by the crane.
